Theatre
Kicking off TONIGHT, it’s Rapture Theatre’s tenth anniversary and they’re celebrating with their brand new production of Gregory Burke’s (Black Watch) critically acclaimed Gagarin Way. It’s the cruel and funny story of a human heist in Fife gone horribly wrong, as two disgruntled factory workers kidnap a visiting company executive to make a point. Except, what exactly is their point? And do they have the same agenda?

On 8th March Plutot La Vie make a welcome return to EPT with their new family show By The Seat of Your Pants, a hilarious exploration of relationships, splapstick and, um, chairs, as three men await their fate in hope, expectation, boredom and delight.

On the 10th of March, Random Accomplice’s hilarious new production Smalltown makes a one-night-only appearance here at EPT after a giddy opening week at the Tron that had critics rolling in the aisles. Created by three of Scotland’s most dynamic writers, Smalltown tells the unexpected tales of what happens when a polluted water supply turns the residents of three Ayrshire towns crazy, from zombies in the frozen food aisle to a dangerous game of Russian Roulette in tourist information, and YOU pick the ending!

After last year’s acclaimed production of Rent, Theatre South return to EPT this season with musical comedy The Wedding Singer. It’s 1985 and wedding singer Robbie, after being jilted at the alter, aims to make every wedding as miserable as his own– until he meets a sweet waitress named Julie, who promptly steals his heart. Only trouble is, she’s about to be married! can Robbie pull off the performance of the decade and win the girl of his dreams?

Another classic of musical theatre, EPT favourites Harlequin Youth Theatre return with the Lloyd-Webber smash Jesus Christ Superstar. The stirring rock opera dramatically recreates the last seven days in the life of Jesus of Nazareth– seen through the eyes of Judas Iscariot.

Last but most definitely not least, EPT’s very own Young Company (the team that brought you last year’s stunning hit Real Men Dream in Black and White) return with another original piece of theatre Glasgow Tales. A snippet of conversation overheard on the train, the face of the old lady you pass every day, the raised voices from next door you wish you cold ignore…Glasgow is alive with stories waiting to be told, and people eager to tell them.

Gallery
In the gallery from 7th March–30th April, EPT will be hosting an exhibition of stunning new figurative work from graduates of Duncan of Jordonstone Art School, Behind The Mirror. The art school is enjoying a reputation as one of the top art schools in Britain, and four recent graduates show us why, with their though-provoking mix of figurative painting styles.

Film
This weekend brings you another dose of big-screen shenanigans, kicking off with one for the kids (and big kids) this Sunday, with Disney classic The Jungle Book, which sees Baloo the bear and Bagheera the panther having a wee bit of difficulty convincing young boy Mowgli to leave the jungle for human civilisation. There’s a free tea/coffee or soft drink for every family member while you watch the movie.

Continuing with our cult classics, ahead of Christopher Nolan’s new installment next year, we’re showing Tim Burton’s Oscar-winning 1989 original Batman, starring Micheal Keaton as the brooding superhero and Jack Nicholson as the clownishly homicidal Joker. And to get us in the mood for summertime, Monday at the Movies continues with Audrey Hepburn classic Roman Holiday, where a bored and sheltered princess (Hepburn) escapes her guardians and falls in love with an American newsman (Gregory Peck) in sunny Roma. Music
After a sell-out show last year, ex Love and Money frontman James Grant returns to EPT. Widely regarded as one of the finest singer-songwriters and performers around, James plays material from all of his critically acclaimed solo albums as well as a smattering of old favourites in a solo acoustic setting. Raw, heart-rending and uplifting this is a performer not to be missed.

Todd Gordon, one of Britain’s finest jazz and swing singers, also returns to EPT this March with new show The Tony Bennett Songbook, a wonderful celebration of Mr Bennet’s joyous and carefully crafted performances, perfect for audiences who enjoy hearing classic songs from a classic era.

Masterclasses
Continuing our immensely popular Masterclass series, this month the Artistic Director of Random Accomplice, Johnny McKnight (‘Smalltown’, ‘Promises Promises’, Little Johnny’s Big Gay Wedding’) presents Page to Stage, a two hour event aimed at exploring the dynamic between the writer, the director and the performer. Led by Johnny, participants will create their own short group scripts then watcha s these original works are altered and adapted by their fellow peers with a view to presenting.
Everyone who participates in the workshop will be eligable for a special £5 ticket price for Random Accomplice’s newest hit Smalltown when it comes to EPT on Thursday 10th March.
