Former Runrig frontman Donnie Munro who has enjoyed considerable further
success as a solo artist and writer, has recently embarked on a series of
acoustic shows where he has taken the opportunity of revisiting a wide range
of material spanning his career with Runrig and with his own Band. The
acoustic project has already resulted in major sell out shows in Denmark and
Munro plans a series of shows both at home and in Denmark towards the end of
2012 and the beginning of 2013.
For the acoustic project Munro is joined on stage by guitarist Eric Cloughley
who has worked on a series of the artists recent studio albums as engineer.
Munro said that coming at the material from an acoustic perspective has been
really exciting and just leads to a different way of looking at the songs –
everything is much more exposed and leads to a more intimate and direct
delivery and engagement with the audience. Munro is currently making plans for
a new acoustic album in the nature of a musical anthology. Munro’s ‘Heart of
America’ album was recently voted Album of the Year in the Scottish Trad
Awards and his concept album and live show ‘An Turas-the journey’ was greeted
with great critical acclaim’.
