Using Tchaikovsky’s stirring score and a moving adaptation of the original choreography, the dancers of Ballet West will tell the story of the love of a young man for the cursed Odette, who is destined to spend her life as a swan, unless true love can release her from the spell of the evil Von Rothbart.

Ballet West is a ballet company that uses professional dancers with students about to begin their careers. Over recent years, the company has developed a significant reputation in producing very high quality, classical ballet, which has developed loyal audiences in venues throughout Scotland. This production is expected to tour China in the spring, following successful Chinese tours of “The Nutcracker and “Romeo and Juliet” in recent years.

Former Runrig frontman Donnie Munro who has enjoyed considerable further
success as a solo artist and writer, has recently embarked on a series of
acoustic shows where he has taken the opportunity of revisiting a wide range
of material spanning his career with Runrig and with his own Band. The
acoustic project has already resulted in major sell out shows in Denmark and
Munro plans a series of shows both at home and in Denmark towards the end of
2012 and the beginning of 2013.
For the acoustic project Munro is joined on stage by guitarist Eric Cloughley
who has worked on a series of the artists recent studio albums as engineer.
Munro said that coming at the material from an acoustic perspective has been
really exciting and just leads to a different way of looking at the songs –
everything is much more exposed and leads to a more intimate and direct
delivery and engagement with the audience. Munro is currently making plans for
a new acoustic album in the nature of a musical anthology. Munro’s ‘Heart of
America’ album was recently voted Album of the Year in the Scottish Trad
Awards and his concept album and live show ‘An Turas-the journey’ was greeted
with great critical acclaim’.

Lara inspires lechery in Komarovsky (her mother’s lover who is a master at surviving whoever runs Russia) and can’t compete with passion for the revolution of the man she marries, Pasha. Her true love is Zhivago who also loves his wife. Lara is the one who inspires poetry. The story is narrated by Zhivago’s half brother Yevgraf, who has made his career in the Soviet Army. At the beginning of the film he is about to meet a young woman he believes may be the long lost daughter of Lara and Zhivago.
