Ballet West present Romeo and Juliet

31 01 2011

We had modern-day re-telling ‘West Side Story’ in January—now EPT are excited to welcome the original, with the return of Ballet West and their runaway success ‘Romeo and Juliet’.

The company will perform Shakespeare’s enduring tale of passion, murder, feud and tragedy in mediaeval Verona at EPT before taking the production on tour in China during April and May.

Ballet West mixes professional dancers and students in the final stages of their training. Recent productions of Swan Lake, The Nutcracker and Coppélia have had sell-out performances and Romeo & Juliet is produced by the same successful team, including Kenn Burke, former acting artistic director at Scottish Ballet.

The principal roles of the star-crossed lovers will be danced by brother and sister team Sara-Maria and Jonathan Barton. These principals are Genée International Ballet Competition medallists and have performed with companies such as Birmingham Royal Ballet, English National Ballet and Scottish Ballet.
