The band’s repertoire is eclectic, serenading tha audience with traditional folk song and klezmer tunes of the shtetl, alonside the music of Yiddish films of the 1930s and some of the band’s own iconic compositions too. The result is a rollicking, foot-tapping, soul searching sound described by The Scotsman as perfectly capturing “both the exuberance and the melancholy of the Diaspora“.
Vocalist Stephanie Brickman is joined by Phil Alexander (of Salsa Celtica fame) on piano and accordian, and Gavin Marwick, one of Scotland’s top folk fiddlers. Stop back to this blog often throughout the next week for more info on YSP’s talented performers!
