Exchange Festival

23 06 2010

NTS Exchange
Between November and March our Exchange group had the opportunity to attend masterclasses with a range of professional theatre directors including Vicky Featherstone, Simon Sharkey and Johnny McKnight. These were to help prepare the group for their devising process, beginning this term, which will culminate in the creation of a unique, high quality piece of theatre.

The piece, called Real Men Dream in Black and White, will be premiered at Eastwood Park Theatre on Sunday 27 June at 7.30pm.  This event is free with no need to book a ticket.  The show will then travel to St Andrews for the NTS Exchange festival week (5 – 10 July at the Byre Theatre) and will be performed at 7.30pm on Wednesday 7 July.  For tickets contact The Byre Theatre direct on 01334 475000.

At the festival participants also get to attend a fantastic selection of workshops and meet other young theatre makers from across Scotland and overseas.

Real Men Dream in Black and White

When I was a boy my dad told me stories, stories of dragons and heroes and men who could fly. But I’m a man and I can’t fly. I am a man and I don’t like football. I am a man and need to know, is it ok to dream?

An all male cast explore modern notions of masculinity. When do we mark our coming of age? What are our rites of passage? We’ve shared our stories, our memories, our hopes and our fears. Now we’d like to share them with you.

Eastwood Park 16-25 invite you to join them for their debut performance of Real Men Dream in Black and White, a new show developed as part of NTS Exchange 2010. This will be a work-in-progress performance in advance of the company’s visit to The Byre Theatre, St Andrew’s and we hope that our audience will come ready to offer critical feedback to the group to ensure we make the best performance piece possible.

Date: Sunday 27th June

Venue: Eastwood Park Theatre, Rouken Glen Road, Giffnock, G46 6UG

Time: 7.30 (60 minutes including Q&A at end of performance)
