Company Chordelia dance theatre presents
Les Amoureux (The Lovers)

Company Chordelia’s production of Les Amoureux is based around Angela Carter’s story ‘The Lady of The House of Love’ which has inspired the idea of creating a visceral, theatrical equivalent to Carter’s incredible imagery.  This is a story of love, life and death, a twisted Sleeping Beauty with the faded opulent feel of a gothic fantasy with a strong Eastern European quality.  Combining dance and physical theatre with opera, voice and design, Les Amoureux is a sensual tale of purity and damage. It creates a world where time stops and never ends.

Choreographed and directed by Chordelia’s Artistic Director, Kally Lloyd-Jones, Les    Amoureux also sees Damian Thantrey returning to Scotland to play The Soldier, fresh from performing in A Little Night Music at the Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris. Lloyd-Jones recently directed Katya Kabanova for Scottish Opera and was Movement Director/Choreographer for the Opera’s Die FledermausCinderellaDream AngusA Night At The Chinese OperaTwo WidowsThe Secret Marriage and The Italian Girl in Algiers

Les Amoureux features songs by Fauré, Duparc and Butterworth and music by Chopin, Philip Glass & Gubaidulina.

For ONE NIGHT ONLY, Les Amoureux will be performed at Eastwood Park Theatre. Saturday 13 March at 7.30pm. Tickets can be bought by calling our Box Office on 0141 577 4970.
